Take action with it!
This is part 5 of a 7-part series: Things Happy People Do.
Happy People Take Action
Knowledge is (almost) useless without action. Action is after all how you participate in life and achieve your goals.
“I learn by going where I have to go.”
You only fully understand your knowledge once you use it.
Imagine a surgeon never performing a real life operation. Their theory, their knowledge never unfolds into pure understanding and wisdom unless they take action. Once they do, they truly “get it”.
It is the same for you in your life. Action becomes wisdom.
I am Healthier Through Action
For years, every time a new nutritional concept resonated with me, I tried it out.
I don’t even look for them anymore they just seem to find me!
But only by acting on it did I fully understand the instructions or the book and learn whether it works for me. Taking action also raises new questions for me and I am able to ask even more in-depth questions.
While I’ve never stayed with any one particular way of eating, I retained certain wisdoms from each.
From the Zone Diet, I learned that a way to feel full after a meal is to make sure it has a portion of fat, protein as well as carbohydrate.
The Eat Right For Your (Blood) Type book taught me gluten in bread makes most people feel sluggish.
But bread is so yum and while I tend to still balance my bread intake, my bigger focus now is thinking:
“everything I eat is good for me”
A far more powerful way of thinking.
While I don’t overload my day with bread, I now digest it more easily (and enjoy it). Your thoughts really do decide your life.
It is an effort to take action, but only initially. The achievement you get gives satisfaction, happiness and that motivation to keep going. Greater discoveries here we come!
“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.”
George Bernard Shaw
How Do You Take Action?
Once you learn something new, keep moving forward with it. If it’s radically new to you then further your understanding by reading more about it – which is also “action”. You also get reassurance if that’s what you want. Remember knowledge builds your acceptance levels so that you’re ready to take action.
Your ultimate goal is to apply it in your life as best you can. As with a surgeon, you’ll get more meaning and understanding once you DO IT.
Even the intention to apply it will open up ways to do it and move you into doing it. Keep moving forward. Then embrace the next key: Be Creative in Your Own Unique Way.
An excerpt from a great review by Cari at nighlon.com:
I had my suspicions about the book, at first. “Is this going to be a get rich quick type of book?” Well, if you are having those reservations, I can put your mind at ease. This is not that type of book. Janet Poole believes that everyone is truly amazing; we just have to reach inside ourselves and bring it to the surface. Basically, the key to getting everything you want is to be happy, and believe that you deserve it. It is disheartening to know how many people do not believe they deserve to be happy.
Janet Poole walks us through the steps to becoming a fabulous being that is happy, and really does have the life we want and deserve. One of her key points is finding out what this life really is. We have to reach into ourselves and decide what we want, not what society thinks we should want. This is a major issue for many people. I realize now that the life I thought I wanted is not the one I have envisioned. Oddly enough, I am closer than I thought to the life that I actually want. We all need work, but the author will help you realize the true steps of getting there.
An interesting aspect of this book is that Janet Poole touches on Quantum Physics, and how it relates to our unique beings. I am not good at science, and never have been. However, I can understand the way she explains it. I also enjoyed the motivational quotes scattered throughout the book, they are nice pick me ups. I will be putting them on post-it notes and scattering them throughout my house. Read more here…

Some important things to know or consider about this book!
You’re not just given the book without a clear understanding of how the book is supposed to work, it begins by opening your mind to what you are about to read, it prepares you for what you are about to endure, and gets you into the mind frame that you are who you are, and understanding and accepting who you are is all part of the process to getting what you want, Just Like That!
Now I know that we all tend to be a little apprehensive as it pertains to self-help, we are all stuck in this thinking that this is what and who I am supposed to be, we’ve adapted and accepted our lives, but consider achieving more by the mere acceptation of who you really are in life. I loved that this book takes your way of thinking and offers another look, another view, another way, I had to allow myself to not be so closed minded in order to be able to accept what this book was offering me.
