How Long Have You Been Getting Ready?

GoIs there something you want to BE, DO, HAVE or CREATE?

Is there something you’d like to BUY or SELL?

Are you still getting ready?

Did you know that no matter how much you prepare, you can only fine-tune the details once you START!

Most people get STUCK in the preparation phase and although preparing is part of the fun,
there comes a time when we know we’re ready but we continue to “get ready”.

“You don’t have to be great to start,
but you have to start to be great.”
~~Zig Ziglar

Most of us would love to get everything “right” the first time but that’s not how life works.

If you want to get everything exactly “right”, you’ll be preparing forever.
And who decides that something is “right”?
It’s an adventure, an experience… that’s all.

Someone once said to me, “It all comes down to one moment”.

At some stage we have to make the leap of faith because for most of us (me included) it’s always going to feel uncomfortable.

Movement, or action, is crucial so I’d love you to have the courage to take that leap.

Until you take that leap, important tasks remain hidden; you’ll never move forward because you’ll never reveal those hidden tasks!

It’s an awesome feeling to be in the flow and address things as they make themselves known.

Yes we’re scared we’re going to feel out of control or exposed and vulnerable, but in fact that doesn’t happen.

Instead you feel your soul singing because you’re moving forward and participating in life the way it was intended.

Even in the midst of discomfort, there’s something that feels very right when you’re doing it.

I urge you to dive into being, doing and having what you want.

Just do it…
… that first step will start your path to having everything you want!

How Could Every Failure Be a Success?

GO WITH THE FLOW
GO WITH THE FLOW

We never “fail”… we’re just afraid we might.

(and who decides it’s “failure” because really and truly there’s no such thing : )

Even if you said you’d failed I’d say, “Congratulations – you’re moving… many are stuck so far back in fear, they might never move! You’re already further ahead.”

Today I’m emphasizing the advantages of MOVING INTO ACTION, that even if you make mistakes you’re still further ahead.

I’m also giving you an easy technique, to get you moving.

“Courage is being scared to death – and saddling up anyway.”

~~ John Wayne

The great thing about MOVING is it’s easier to change direction.

Imagine a vehicle.
– How hard is it to change direction while standing still? Very hard.
– How hard is it to change direction while moving? Very easy.

Studies show that people who achieve what they want, do it through trial and error.

Yes, a mistake is an indicator of success

How successful can you be if you’re DOING NOTHING?

Today I have some words of wisdom from Dr Maxwell Maltz author of Psycho-Cybernetics and below you’ll see a great technique I use – that you can start using today.

I was intrigued when I first heard that a rocket arrives at its destination through a series of mistakes (it fails its way there?) and that our subconscious mind is a mechanism operating in a similar way.

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”

~~ Albert Einstein

According to Dr Maltz, our subconscious is in fact a “machine” we use.

We direct this machine using our conscious mind.

So, how is the mechanism in a rocket similar to your subconscious mind?

Have a look at this interesting list of similarities:

  • They are both goal-striving mechanisms.
  • They are both impersonal (your subconscious mind does not see things as good or bad it just goes ahead and creates your outside world according to your thinking – whether that serves you or not)
  • They must both be moving to get to their goal (sounds obvious yet most people don’t move)
  • They both reach their destination (goal) through trial and error. When they go forward, they make mistakes and correct their course. They are therefore further ahead.

7 Things Happy People Do – They Take Action (Part 5 of 7)

That new information you learn?

Take action with it!

This is part 5 of a 7-part series: Things Happy People Do.

Key #1 is Happy People Have an Open Mind.
Key #2 is Happy People Love to Learn.
Key #3 is Happy People Put Themselves First.
Key #4 is Happy People Approve of Themselves.

Key #5:

Happy People Take Action

Knowledge is (almost) useless without action. Action is after all how you participate in life and achieve your goals.

“I learn by going where I have to go.”

Theodore Roethke

You only fully understand your knowledge once you use it.

Imagine a surgeon never performing a real life operation. Their theory, their knowledge never unfolds into pure understanding and wisdom unless they take action. Once they do, they truly “get it”.

It is the same for you in your life. Action becomes wisdom.

I am Healthier Through Action

For years, every time a new nutritional concept resonated with me, I tried it out.

I don’t even look for them anymore they just seem to find me!

But only by acting on it did I fully understand the instructions or the book and learn whether it works for me. Taking action also raises new questions for me and I am able to ask even more in-depth questions.

While I’ve never stayed with any one particular way of eating, I retained certain wisdoms from each.

From the Zone Diet, I learned that a way to feel full after a meal is to make sure it has a portion of fat, protein as well as carbohydrate.

The Eat Right For Your (Blood) Type book taught me gluten in bread makes most people feel sluggish.

But bread is so yum and while I tend to still balance my bread intake, my bigger focus now is thinking:

“everything I eat is good for me”

A far more powerful way of thinking.

While I don’t overload my day with bread, I now digest it more easily (and enjoy it). Your thoughts really do decide your life.

It is an effort to take action, but only initially. The achievement you get gives satisfaction, happiness and that motivation to keep going. Greater discoveries here we come!

“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

George Bernard Shaw

“Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence.
Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear.
Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow.

But any action is better than no action at all.

~~ Norman Vincent Peale

Okay, so you’ve decided what you want and you now have a story describing your ideal life.

That’s terrific because you need to know what you want.
Imagine driving your car not knowing what direction you’re going in.

Now what comes next?

Take Action to Get What You Want

When I first started intentionally creating what I wanted, I’d sit back and wait.

I didn’t know any better. And ultimately I got what I wanted just by writing a story or making a list of what I wanted, as suggested in Part 3 2 Easy and Effective Steps to Start Your Happy Life .

But today I know the benefits of taking action and I also enjoy taking action.

I’ve found I have more fun along the way – my journey is more exciting, I overcome more fears, develop greater confidence in what I’m doing and my result becomes even greater.

Why Does Taking Action Help?

Humans carry a lot of baggage.

We all have baggage.

This baggage can weigh us down, distract us, create fear, cause doubts and delay our ideal future.

By saturating your life every day with this new future, it keeps you aligned to your goal – it releases that baggage and keeps you motivated and on track.
