REASON #5
What if You’re Denying the Power of Your Mind
In reason #1 of this series I suggested creating a worthwhile goal – one that’s fun, outrageous, exciting – one that will cause you to grow and evolve.
When you understand the power of your mind, you’ll understand why you can create an awesome goal and have no idea HOW you’ll achieve it.
However, such goals take you out of your comfort zone which is scary enough, but ALSO they often require you to have the courageto break free from the herd mentality and become a confident leader of your own life.
What does leaving behind the herd mentality mean?
You no longer conform to the hidden rules of society
You leave behind the need for acceptance and approval
You risk disapproval from others (initially)
You risk losing certain people in your life (which allows new inspiring people to enter)
You may be called crazy (initially)
You may be called selfish (initially)
You’ll start making your own decisions – most people battle with this one
You’ll stop asking permission – yay!
You’ll shine brighter, you’ll get noticed — this freaks many people who feel it’s safer to stay hidden or risk rejection
You start living and speaking your truth — showing others who you really are. Most people consider this too dangerous.
You need faith to jump and build your wings on the way!
The backlash
We all know when we’re perceived as “different” there’s a potential for backlash, so anytime you choose to move on from mainstream thinking, that’s what you risk. It’s usually self-inflicted but it seems to be coming from others (another story for another time).
Most people wear the mask of success — do you?
Even if you have a burning desire to do something special in life, you feel you can’t so you abandon your dream and pretend to be someone else. You toe the line by putting on a mask, by appearing successful, fun-loving and easy-going.
You stay ultra busy to distract yourself from your real feelings, your real desires.
Deal with it or it’ll catch up with you
But your feelings inside do not go away – they eventually catch up with you.
If you don’t deal with it you may turn to alcohol, plastic surgery, spending on fancy clothes, furniture, gamble or even drugs, which destroy brain cells (and when you no longer have a fully functioning brain it makes changing and healing a tough job).
Or you distract yourself with Facebook, YouTube, email, television or video games.
I’m sure all this sounds familiar. All these options are often the path of least resistance, but they take you further way from happiness. Each time you need more to get your original reward or “high”.
This is an addiction — to things outside of you.
It becomes unsustainable. Emptiness, loneliness, frustration, anger and bitterness start to multiply.
The truth is real joy only comes from the inside & from being the real you.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Allow…
… THE REAL YOU to shine through. Allow yourself to sit still for five minutes this week.
Ask yourself, “How do I really feel?”
Do this…
Start studying the power of the mind
Start discovering the truth about real happiness and how to create it
Hint: happiness is the result of growing, evolving – best done by creating that outrageous goal and remembering you can only make you happy – it comes from inside not from outside
Start learning how to exercise your free will. You’ll learn this helps everyone.

Reading That Liberating Book Only Once

Remember, it’s highly probable you have entrenched HABITS (programming) to follow orders, put everyone else first and put your dream last !
And therefore, your subconscious programming will be keeping your life PREDICTABLE and safe.
It’s up to you to break out and exercise your free will.
But first, so we’re clear — what’s the definition of a HABIT?
A habit is something you do BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK about it. Scary or superb?
Which means, unless your current habits and beliefs endorse getting what you want … FORGET IT.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. Read personal development books & listen to CDs several times (repetition)
If you’re wanting to leave behind mediocrity and DO what you love — you’ll need to read the information over and over (and over) if you want to start living it.
The idea you’re drawn to is seeking expression — in you.
What you read is not a coincidence, but reading it once is not enough.

2. Take notes as you read (more repetition)
When you note new ideas you get more repetition. You’ll embrace the ideas and start living them.
Do this simple technique I’ve done for years:
Fold a clean sheet of paper in half and place it in the book
Have a pen or pencil handy
Write out those tempting ideas and note the page number
Store it in the book
You’ll form a quick reference to all that inspiration and I often refer to my genius notes. Take more notes when you re-read the book.
3. Create affirmations from these new ideas, and say them slowly every morning and before sleep.
Do this for 30 days straight — at least.
Allow the words of the affirmation to fill you with excitement — if they don’t, create new ones. They must inspire you.
How does repetition work?
Repetition replaces those old limiting habits and beliefs in your subconscious mind e.g. the ones that say, “you can’t.”
Tried “positive thinking” and find it doesn’t work? It’s because the beliefs and habits in your subconscious mind are too strong — they dominate.
Deep down most people have programming that blocks them from breaking free — often because of what others may say or that they may fail.
Do you hold back, conform and stay safe?
The secret is the more often you see a tempting, liberating idea, the more likely you’ll get the courage to apply it.

Repetition drives you to action.
With repetition you more fully grasp concepts such as the power of YOUR thought and you CAN have what you want, which sparks your imagination. You get excited as you start seeing this is possible.
It does work…
When readers write to me overjoyed about living life on their own terms and their out-of-the-blue magic, I always ask how many times they’ve read my book.
Their answer is almost always that they’ve read it twice, three times and are continuing to do so.
No coincidence.
So Remember…
Repetition will reprogram your subconscious mind with glorious possibilities.

4)COMMIT to applying at least one or two of these new actions if you want to achieve your goal.
Commitment is a must – even if it’s a small action, do it.
It’s how you’ll start changing your habits and get the results you want.
