10 Major Reasons WHY-Inspired Leaders Have Inspired EMPLOYEES (Part 1)

WHY-ified team

Are you a WHY-inspired leader of your team?

What’s the difference between a leader who knows and lives their WHY and one who does not?

What does it mean to be a WHY-inspired leader of your team?

(Part 2) 10 Major Reasons WHY-inspired Leaders Inspire Their CUSTOMERS

1. WHY inspired leaders are AUTHENTIC.

They know and live their WHY. They know who they are and what they stand for. They are authentic, genuine and real.

When you start with WHY you do what you do, you inspire others.

Great leaders are able to inspire others into action. Great leaders have people following them not because they have to… but because they want to.

2. WHY inspired leaders lead through INSPIRATION not manipulation.

All great leaders have the ability to find good fits for the culture of their business – those who believe what they believe. Starting with WHY makes it easier to hire those passionate for what you believe.

Great leaders show their current team members how they fit into the culture of the business and in so doing inspire them to take up the cause. They encourage their people to do what they’re passionate about and to fully express who they truly are.

They do not motivate through manipulation i.e. bonuses and incentives because eventually that’s the only reason a person comes to work. Bonuses and incentives are rather used as a celebration.

3. WHY inspired leaders challenge the status quo.

Truly living your WHY and being authentic can mean challenging the status quo.

WHY inspired leaders are not afraid of doing that, they are decisive and lead by example.

They know it’s their job to advance the WHY of the company and that it inspires passion in the team members.

When you know your WHY you’re certain about what you believe and you’re motivated to live it.

4. WHY inspired leaders create a culture of TRUST.

They understand getting the right people in the right seat is only the beginning.

No-one likes to be told what to do. A dictatorial environment may get tasks accomplished but it does not build an inspired business where people are self-motivated and willing to improve. It creates low levels of trust.

People feel suppressed and frustrated. Mistrust weakens a business and creates self-serving, rebellious behaviour and people feel forced to take sides.

Great leaders focus on earning and keeping the trust of their employees.

Without trust people will show up to the job but worry only about themselves. Great leaders recognise trust is gained over time. They truly care about their employees’ dreams and hopes.

5. WHY inspired leaders ensure LONG-TERM growth by unifying their team.

They make sure everyone knows the WHY of the business, each person knows their own individual WHY, that they are valued and how they fit into the WHY of the organisation.

Everyone buys into the cause.

Team members start respecting each other and pulling together. Non-WHY inspired leaders look for the latest short-term quick fix and struggle to get their team working together.

6. WHY inspired leaders have ENGAGED, productive employees.

Disengagement is a common and very expensive issue. Such people are there only for the pay check, are there only for themselves and they undermine others.

Simply by knowing their WHY, feeling valued and understanding how essential they are to the business, people become inspired, passionate and engaged, coming in to work early and leaving late – not for the leader, but for themselves.

Status quo is meant to be broken7. WHY inspired leaders EMPOWER their people.

They empower people by inspiring everyone in their business to take on personal leadership no matter what their rank. Employees are encouraged to make their own decisions and become accountable for the outcome.

They are willing to make decisions because they trust their leader and feel safe and protected.

8. WHY inspired leaders encourage employees to BETTER the company.

An employee who feels safe is willing to try something new and innovative in order to improve the business.

For that to happen a person needs to trust that the leader and company will look out for them. A strong sense of WHY creates a strong culture, a feeling of belonging and being protected.

9. WHY inspired leaders have employees who are able to weather HARD TIMES.

People with a clear sense of WHY are less likely to give up during hard times and can often see opportunity in those difficult times. They are resilient and come to work with a sense of purpose.

10. WHY inspired leaders create a HAPPY, productive environment.

They know happy employees produce more, work harder, have more fun, attract other happy employees and enthusiastically tell the world how happy they are at work.

They ensure their people are constantly reminded WHY the business exists and what it believes.

They know it’s not enough just to write it on the wall.

Summary

To inspire is to “breathe life into”.

To inspire others you have to know your WHY.

A great leader empowers each individual first and gives them a vision which enables them to fully express that power on behalf of the team.

In other words, you make it about them first and show them how valuable and essential they are, how their unique gift contributes to the business as a whole and how nothing meaningful can happen without them.

Then, and only then, will they align with your cause—they will see clearly how their beliefs and what they do fit perfectly in your business.

WHY-infused cultures are exciting, people feel motivated and successful, and it’s a place of trust.

Success is shared and celebrated.

You develop top talent and they want to stay because they believe what you believe.

WHY inspired leaders enjoy peace of mind because they have an inspired, growing business.

How to Create True Passion and Inspiration in Your Team

When You Know Your WHY…

My name is Janet Poole and I believe there are better ways to delight your customers and inspire your staff.

I believe in meaningful conversation, knowing what really matters to you.

I believe an open mind is essential to a better life because there are always different and better ways of doing things.

I believe truth is a better way no matter how outrageous and despite its consequences because it sets you free.

I don’t believe in conforming. I believe in freedom and remembering to use your free will because many of us forget we have it and end up frustrated living below our potential.

I believe in saying yes to opportunities, doing something greater than yourself because it will thrill you; life ought to be an adventure, lived with courage.

I believe in laughing, delicious food and red wine.

I believe in being someone you can count on who will support you all the way into the results you want.

Better Ways. More Freedom.

Knowing your WHY is like turning on the lights to your behaviour. You gain instant clarity. It’s like being introduced to yourself. When you know your WHY, you begin to understand. When you know your WHY, you realise your unique gifts. When you know your WHY, you gain clarity and confidence. When you know your WHY you live with passion.

How To Create True Passion and Inspiration In Your Team

WHY-mark-twainMost people have a deep need to BELONG to something meaningful and important.

Every team member needs to feel that they belong, that they matter, that their contribution is vital – that their business needs them.

It’s the role of the business owner or leader to create that environment.

You can’t expect people to assume or guess that they matter.

If people don’t feel truly cared for by you, how can you expect them to truly care about your business?

They won’t.

They will come to work.
They will do their job.
They will collect their paycheck. They will go home.

Imagine, by contrast, that because of you their leader, every one of your team members knows their WHY. They know what makes them important to the cause. They know how they fit.

Imagine if your team members felt valued as part of something greater than themselves, a part of a worthy cause, something they can rally behind.

  •  They’d show up every day ready and enthusiastic to do their part.
  •  They’d feel appreciated and empowered.
  •  They’d understand and respect their team members because they know each other’s WHY.
  •  They’d know who to go to when they need help.
  •  They’d feel respected and respect each other.
  •  They’d care about their performance, what they produce, their contribution.

When you have an absolute company standard that clearly states all team members are respected and cherished for who they are, it is immensely powerful and attractive to each individual.

When you can show your team members that you care about them, not only for the job they do, but also for the person that they are and what they stand for—and honour the fact that what they stand for matters— they will become passionate about your business; they will turn your cause into their cause.

They’ll feel a sense of belonging and develop a loyalty unlike any other.

They want to be part of the winning team, your team, the team that works together.

How much more passionate would every person in your team be when everyone knows their WHY?

How much more ready will they be to embrace your WHY and make your cause their own?
How much more united and effective will your team become?

When everyone knows their WHY and how they fit into the WHY of the organisation, the unity, effectiveness and production go through the roof.

Your effectiveness as a leader becomes effortless and yet immensely powerful.
You build an inspired organisation.

How do you do that?

It starts with WHY-ifying your team.

What Do You See in The Mirror – Is This The Reason You’re Not Achieving Your Goal?

CHANGE FROM THE INSIDE OUT
CHANGE FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Your confidence will soar as you start to see you CAN have what you want.

You can do it.

Today… 2 more reasons you’re not achieving your goal.

REASON #3

Reading That Liberating Book Only Once

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.”

~~ Earl Nightingale

Remember, it’s highly probable you have entrenched HABITS (programming) to follow orders, put everyone else first and put your dream last !

And therefore, your subconscious programming will be keeping your life PREDICTABLE and safe.

It’s up to you to break out and exercise your free will.

But first, so we’re clear — what’s the definition of a HABIT?

A habit is something you do BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK about it. Scary or superb?

Which means, unless your current habits and beliefs endorse getting what you want … FORGET IT.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1. Read personal development books & listen to CDs several times (repetition)

If you’re wanting to leave behind mediocrity and DO what you love — you’ll need to read the information over and over (and over) if you want to start living it.

The idea you’re drawn to is seeking expression — in you.

What you read is not a coincidence, but reading it once is not enough.

“Constant repetition carries conviction.”

~~ Robert Collier (1885-1950)

2. Take notes as you read (more repetition)

When you note new ideas you get more repetition. You’ll embrace the ideas and start living them.

Do this simple technique I’ve done for years:

  • Fold a clean sheet of paper in half and place it in the book
  • Have a pen or pencil handy
  • Write out those tempting ideas and note the page number
  • Store it in the book

You’ll form a quick reference to all that inspiration and I often refer to my genius notes. Take more notes when you re-read the book.

3. Create affirmations from these new ideas, and say them slowly every morning and before sleep.

Do this for 30 days straight — at least.

Allow the words of the affirmation to fill you with excitement — if they don’t, create new ones. They must inspire you.

How does repetition work?

Repetition replaces those old limiting habits and beliefs in your subconscious mind e.g. the ones that say, “you can’t.”

Tried “positive thinking” and find it doesn’t work? It’s because the beliefs and habits in your subconscious mind are too strong — they dominate.

Deep down most people have programming that blocks them from breaking free — often because of what others may say or that they may fail.

Do you hold back, conform and stay safe?

The secret is the more often you see a tempting, liberating idea, the more likely you’ll get the courage to apply it.

“Repetition of the same thought or physical action develops into a habit which, repeated frequently enough, becomes an automatic reflex.”

~~ Norman Vincent Peale (1898 – 1993)

Repetition drives you to action.

With repetition you more fully grasp concepts such as the power of YOUR thought and you CAN have what you want, which sparks your imagination. You get excited as you start seeing this is possible.

It does work…

When readers write to me overjoyed about living life on their own terms and their out-of-the-blue magic, I always ask how many times they’ve read my book.

Their answer is almost always that they’ve read it twice, three times and are continuing to do so.

No coincidence.

So Remember…

Repetition will reprogram your subconscious mind with glorious possibilities.

REASON #4

How Strong is Your Opinion of Yourself?

STRONG ENOUGH?
STRONG ENOUGH?

Your life is a reflection of your self image

I invite you to take a look around.

What do you see? It’s interesting when you know your life is a reflection of what you think of yourself.

“A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success in life.”

~~Dr. Joyce Brothers (Psychologist & television personality b. 1927)

What we see can ALWAYS be improved.

You’re always evolving.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

An Easy Way to Discover Your Hidden Talents & Make Your Life Meaningful

IT’S YOUR CHOICE

We choose our lives – like it or not.

You’ll “like it” once you know the reason.

It means you always have choice.

As much choice as you want.

Can you have a job you love? YES. How?

By saying, “YES!”

You only need to start small to get big results.

One step at a time; no need to turn your life upside down. (plenty of time for that :- )

Side note: The fun part is the journey to your goal, not necessarily the end result.

“Every artist was first an amateur.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

One Easy Way to Discover Your Hidden Talents & Make Your Life Meaningful

Introduce things you love into your life today, and create a pathway to a job you love. Say these two sentences to yourself – slowly, consciously and out loud for several days:

“I already know what it is I love to do and  I have the freedom to do it TODAY!”

“I’m so grateful to be doing what I love – it’s exciting to wake up every day enthusiastic about my day ahead.”

(or you can create your own, play with the words so that you get a sense of excitement)

I know this sounds wacky but this is powerful because it is an intention.

SAY, “YES”!

Be alert to new opportunities when they appear – because they will. It’s your job to act on them.

Become a “Yes Man or Woman”, remember the movie YES MAN  and how Jim Carrey’s character radically turned his life  around when he stopped saying no and started saying yes?

Say, “YES” to fun and new experiences. It’s your right to do so.

You’ll soon know what you want to do and be doing something you love.

“Hide not your talents, they for use were made,
What’s a sundial in the shade?” ~~Benjamin Franklin

How This Person Discovered Their Passion in Only a Few Days

Someone I know, let’s call her Tracy, recently faced this situation.

Tracy had an uncomfortable ailment. Her symptoms strongly indicated she needed to find and do something she loves in her life.

I suggested two things: 1. Contemplate the message she’s getting from her body and 2. Introduce something new and fun to her life. S

he said the problem was she didn’t know what her talents are or what she loves to do. She’s not alone in this dilemma.

Well, it was Tracy’s birthday that same week and her family just happened to give her Continue reading “An Easy Way to Discover Your Hidden Talents & Make Your Life Meaningful”

How to Use Problems to Get What You Want

CREATE WHAT YOU WANT

Turn your problem into an opportunity in one easy step:

Start by calling your issue a ‘challenge’ rather than a ‘problem’. You’ll immediately leave behind anxiety and suffering, and find yourself feeling reassured. Perhaps even feeling stimulated and on a new adventure. Read on to learn how to turn challenges into getting what you want.

Let’s explore more deeply into what challenges can do for you. Once you know this you’ll stop running away, you’ll eagerly face them. You’ll embrace future challenges instead of fearing them and you’ll stop getting frustrated, angry or vengeful (we often incorrectly blame others for our issues).

Challenges are an ideal opportunity to:

  • Discover what you really want in your life
  • Learn how to get what you really want.

“Every wall is a door.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson (American lecturer, essayist and poet. Seen as a champion of individualism, 1803 – 1882)

Key Points

  • The hidden message behind every challenge.
  • Discovering your greatest asset to solving your challenge.
  • Finding out what a challenge can teach you.
  • Using a challenge to become happier and get what you want.

A Challenge Says to You, ‘Wake Up!’

A challenge gives you obvious, accurate feedback on what you are currently doing in your life. It provides perspective.

Sometimes you’re asleep in your life, you feel bored, discontented, anxious, and yet are unsure why – or what to do about it.

Challenges turn on the required heat to motivate you to take a closer look at your life, make adjustments and take off in a remarkable new direction.

The more discomfort you feel, the more likely it is that you’ll take action to change your life. Use this to your advantage.

If you let them, challenges are opportunities that propel you toward getting what you want.

How to Solve Your Challenge

The most powerful asset in your life is the thoughts you choose. Quantum physics has proved to us that you experience exactly what you think.

This is the reason we feel empowered by re-labeling a ‘problem’ as a ‘challenge’. You get perspective. You choose whether your life is sad, unfair, tough, or easy, fun and exciting.

Therefore, changing your thoughts can solve your challenge.

But how do you know what you are thinking – how do you know what to change?

Use your challenge as your clue.

In other words:

This challenge IS your current thinking. Use it to draw attention to the thoughts that created it.

Thoughts always precede reality. Here are some ways to pinpoint these thoughts.

7 Steps to Using Challenges as Clues to Get What You Want

1.     Tell yourself, “There is something wonderful in this for me.” (there really is!) Have an intention to discover what the challenge is showing you and what you ought to do instead.

2.     Have the intention to use the challenge for your benefit – to change direction and create the life that you want. This is about YOUR evolution. This is an opportunity to evolve. Resist blaming anyone. This gives away your power. And don’t blame yourself either; that’s futile. Your experiences give you wisdom – use it to create more happiness.

3.     You already have all the answers within you. Stop what you are doing. Don’t wait until your challenge really hurts to stop and do this. Merely give yourself even 15 minutes of doing nothing. You can:

  • Sit quietly and contemplate or
  • Go for a contemplative walk.

Listen for ideas and have a notebook in your pocket to jot them down.

4.     There may be two parts to your answer:

  • One may be an immediate practical solution,
  • The second will be what you can learn from this situation i.e. to evolve and change your destiny.

5.     Create inspirational thoughts by way of affirmations for things you want in your life once you get some ideas, e.g. ‘I have… <insert what you want>’ or ‘I am…<insert what you want>’. You can choose anything you want. Write them on cards to put around your house and say them aloud when you can. The more you align your daily thoughts with these, the more you get what you want.

6.     Read books and articles which teach awareness, happiness and getting what you want.

7.     Never give up. See the quote below – persistence will get you there. Depending on the challenge it may take some time for you to understand the message of the challenge.

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

Thomas Edison

Note: you may have to hit rock bottom to put in the “effort” to sit quietly; to take action. That is okay although it will be easier on you to act now : -)

So Remember…

You now know challenges are feedback and an opportunity for you and if you allow the idea, they can be a blessing. When you are ready you now have the knowledge.

As you continue to evolve you may face other challenges, but they become easier to handle because you know behind challenges is a reward for you. Let them lead you towards getting what you want.
