Tip: Change Your Daily Activities Somehow, Even a Little

If you think about it, what you’ve been thinking and doing most of your life has created your current direction and situation, correct?

Repetition becomes dull and boring.

So change it up.

That is, if you want to change direction.

This simply means change the places you go each day, the roads on which you travel, what you eat, where you buy your coffee… change who you talk to, what you watch and read and even… where you sit at the dinner table.

Only little things, nothing big.

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955)

Contemplate what you do each day and pinpoint possible areas to change.

Importantly surround yourself with inspiration: in people, books, movies and/or make time for a hobby that inspires you.

Make conscious changes.

Change Means a New Direction – New is Exciting

By making a few simple changes, you turn yourself to face a new direction. When you face a new direction the view is different, life looks different and parts of it will be new. Voilà. Yes, new opportunities are able to come into view. New is always exciting for us. A happy life is an exciting life.

Finding Times Tough? Take Action Today to Get Your Happy Life (Part 4 of 7)

“Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence.
Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear.
Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow.

But any action is better than no action at all.

Okay, so you’ve decided what you want and you now have a story describing your ideal life.

That’s terrific because you need to know what you want.
Imagine driving your car not knowing what direction you’re going in.

Now what comes next?

Take Action to Get What You Want

When I first started intentionally creating what I wanted, I’d sit back and wait.

I didn’t know any better. And ultimately I got what I wanted just by writing a story or making a list of what I wanted, as suggested in Part 3 2 Easy and Effective Steps to Start Your Happy Life .

But today I know the benefits of taking action and I also enjoy taking action.

I’ve found I have more fun along the way – my journey is more exciting, I overcome more fears, develop greater confidence in what I’m doing and my result becomes even greater.

Why Does Taking Action Help?

Humans carry a lot of baggage.

We all have baggage.

This baggage can weigh us down, distract us, create fear, cause doubts and delay our ideal future.

By saturating your life every day with this new future, it keeps you aligned to your goal – it releases that baggage and keeps you motivated and on track.

An Excellent Way to Discover a Golden Opportunity

As mentioned in part 1 Finding Times Tough? How to Take Charge Today and Get a Happy Life, tough times create an opportunity for you.

It’s likely they cause you to slow down or allow you to pause a little longer than usual. We’re often moving so fast in our lives, we don’t even realize we need a change in direction.

Slowing down or being forced to allows you to reflect, time to ponder and this window could be enough to jolt you into thinking differently about life.

You may discover a golden opportunity sitting right there before you, something you otherwise may have missed. It usually works that way and that is the blessing.

If you choose to see tough times as a blessing, that’s what they’ll be.

Attitude is thought and a useful attitude can turn around any situation.

One Day You’ll Look Back and See How These Tough Times Helped You

Before we get started on these two easy steps, let’s give you a head start:

Imagine yourself one day looking back at this moment, saying:

“How fortunate those tough times were for me because without them I wouldn’t have made those changes in my life.

I wouldn’t have the wisdom or confidence I have now, it’s because I faced those times that I’ve done so much more in my life and I’m now so much happier.”

I’ve been known to say exactly that, even when my situation has been awful and perhaps you have too.

So, decide now that your current situation will also be that way.

Use this opportunity to ponder and reflect, and to decide what you want.

And then read on to find out how to leave tough times behind.

How to Take Charge of Your Life in Tough Times and Get a Happy Life

However hard life may seem, decide you’re going to deal with it and not be a victim.

A victim waits in hope for life to become different.

Most of us, both men and women no matter how seemingly strong or successful, play the victim game at some stage.

Yes, even big burly men and tough career women.

Being a victim does have benefits. Very short-term benefits.

You get attention and others feel sorry for you.

All well and good, except that over time being a victim destroys your life.

When I say don’t be a victim, I’m not saying keep a stiff upper lip or suffer in silence either.

I’m saying that a victim is someone who is stuck and dependent on others.

If you’d like an interesting, exciting and happy life, it’s essential you stand up and act toward changing your situation.

This can seem like hard work – in some ways it is.

But no-one can live your life for you or make you happy, and doing this for yourself is hugely rewarding and satisfying.

There is something thrilling in taking charge. Something you’ll only discover once you try it.

If you don’t know what action to take or how to take it, these 7 articles show you how.

How to Stop Criticism…Going Out & Coming In

Free as a BirdEver wished you could stop criticizing others?

And wondered why you do it?

And of course on the flip side, we all love receiving a compliment.

Read on for an interesting way to accept others… and attract praise.

“Like the sky opens after a rainy day we must open to ourselves…. Learn to love yourself for who you are and open so the world can see you shine.”

James Poland

1) How to Stop Criticizing Others

Until you accept yourself for who you are, your enthusiasm for criticism will continue. The reason? You’re seeing yourself in others; you’re seeing your ‘flaws’.

We all have flaws and they’re okay, but because we deem flaws unacceptable we criticize. You only have one reality – yours. Everything is about you. It’s easy to criticize because we mistakenly take ourselves out of the situation and forget everyone has flaws, we included. So we sit in judgment of the other person, thinking it’s all about them, when it’s always all about us.

We consider ourselves spotless and above it all. However don’t blame or chastise yourself. Use this only to learn, and blame no-one.

Once you choose to accept yourself for who you are, flaws and all, you consequently accept others for who they are flaws and all. You develop compassion for others. They therefore stop pressing your buttons. Why? You move into what you think.

I accept me = I accept you.

Simple. Problem solved.  That was easy…

“You’re born an original.  Don’t die a copy.”

John Mason (Author of several motivational books)

2) How to Stop Others Criticizing You

It’s all very well to say we shouldn’t care what others think, but if you don’t like being criticized then the easiest way to nail it is to Continue reading “How to Stop Criticism…Going Out & Coming In”
